Story[]

Terror is just a notion. Man created fear. Completely illogical as it hinders your chances of survival. The feeling is caused by the fear of death. Yet, we are all going to die in the end, does it matter which day? Normally not but when you are looking into the red eyes of death itself it suddenly dawns on you just how much you enjoy living.

This thought repeated in Malin’s head as he was lying on the ground. His back ached and his head was pounding. The creature above came in closer, it’s claws nearing Malin. It breathed heavily as it neared Malin. Its red eyes neared him as the hot breath of the creature went onto Malin’s face.

“Please. I can give you so much,” Malin begged.

The creature seemed to stall as its head turned to the right. Behind Malin was a wall which offered no obvious escape routes. It tried to find a rock as his hand skittled around the ground. The creature seemed to follow his movements with precision.

“Can you see in the dark?” Malin leaned into the creature as he found a small rock.

He threw his hand towards the creature attempting to get as much power behind his attempt as he possibly could. He hit the creature but instead of the creature collapsing he found his hand rebounding off it, like rubber. Malin’s hand hit the ground as he let go off the stone. The creature put both off its hands out revealing a hairy hand with large claws at the end of it. It then pointed them to the wall.

“What are you doing?” Malin looked up as the creature was moving its fingers along the rock above them.

It seemed to be making something out of it, or perhaps it was engraving onto it. After a few moments the creature stopped, as it looked back down to Malin. It then brought it’s claw high up and then slashed down. It struck Malin’s face as he recoiled. It then walked away always looking at Malin. He felt the large cut on his face as he got up. His back still ached as he waited for the creature to leave, and when it did he ran all the way back home.

“The chair is the only thing designed for us to sit. But we can use other objects to do the same purpose,” the Doctor talked aloud.

Shalek and Tetra sighed, not this again, they both thought.

“Can we go on an adventure? I do not want another wig and spaghetti situation,” Tetra said.

Tetra was throwing shurikens at a target which the Doctor had installed in order for the console not to be the target area. He then got up off the seat and put a hand under the TARDIS console. He pulled a spaghetti wig out and put it on his head.

“This is brilliant. The work of a true genius is only realised after their death,” the Doctor played with the strains off spaghetti on his head.

The Doctor then pulled one of the spaghetti strings off and ate it. The other two were disgusted at this as they had added something to the spaghetti mixture. The Doctor spat it out.

“What is this taste?” The Doctor asked the others.

Shalek and Tetra burst out laughing.

“We added a little something,” Shalek grinned.

“I can taste that. What did you add?” The Doctor shouted.

Shalek and Tetra were now laughing louder than before as the Doctor threw the spaghetti wig at them.

“You remember the droppings of that rabbit that we had in the TARDIS for a few days?” Tetra asked.

Realisation dawned on the Doctor’s face as he went underneath his console once more and grabbed some chocolate. He bit into it and then spat it out.

“The chocolate as well? How did you mix it in?” The Doctor looked through the other food in the TARDIS making sure to smell it before he bit into it.

“You told us there was a fusion ray. Which I took,” Tetra brought out a small pod object which was glowing wild colours of blue, green and red.

The Doctor threw all the food away as he went to the console unit and pulled some levers.

“Where are we going?” Shalek asked.

The Doctor tapped Handles on the head as he pulled the Cyber-head out of its sockets that had attached Handles to the TARDIS. The Doctor then went on the phone, after a short conversation he got off it. He now had an answer.

“To see a man about a dog. Well a beast would be a better team and we will need Handles to help,” the Doctor spun the last few levers as they dematerialised.

“Get help,” Malin rushed into his home.

His wife was sitting on the couch with the TV on. She looked back to Malin.

“Be quiet. The kids are asleep,” Aska waved Malin away.

Aska then noticed the large scratch mark on Malin’s face. She shot up as she went to the kitchen. Grabbing the medical kit that was on the side. Aska opened it grabbing at a large smart plaster which detected the problem that the blood had and would resolve it.

“I saw it,” Malin muttered.

Aska pulled the seal of the smart plaster and put it across Malin’s face. Blood had dripped onto the ground as he grabbed some off his pills.

“Should you be having those with the state you’re in?” Aska asked.

Aska pulled the plaster off as Malin opened the lid to his pills. He put his hand out and tipped some pills into his palm. He then put them into his mouth and swallowed them. The pills would dissolve so there was no need for water to drink them down with.

“I will be fine. My back is killing me,” Malin went away from Aska.

“Where are you going?” Aska asked.

Malin went to the phone that was stationed on the side. It was a small thing which attached to the wall. It was wireless but they kept it on the wall so they would not lose it. Malin pulled it out of its charging slot as he dialled some numbers.

“Don’t worry about that. I will get help. We are not safe,” Malin heard the ringing.

Then a loud whooshing sound as the TARDIS appeared in the living room. The Doctor poked his head around the door as he looked around. When he thought it was safe he went out of the TARDIS holding Handles as Tetra and Shalek followed.

“You called? How did you my phone number?” The Doctor demanded.

Malin dropped the phone to the floor as it bounced harmlessly off it. He had his mouth open as Malin and Aska were unsure off what to do.

“I haven’t called yet,” Malin muttered.

“Well you were just about to. I had been scheduled to go to another part off this planet but then you called,” the Doctor picked the phone up from the floor.

Malin grabbed the phone from the Doctor as he slowly back away. He went into his kitchen as Aska followed. Malin grabbed a frying pan and held it to the Doctor.

“How did you just appear? Magic trick? Are you a part of the secret services? Are you here to kill me?” Malin shouted.

Aska grabbed one of the kitchen knives as they heard footsteps. A child appeared at the hallway looking from his parents and then to the blue box in its living room.

“Are we playing?” Jelo asked excitedly.

The kid who looked no older than 10 years old ran towards the TARDIS.

“Your parents are going haywire so stay away until we can convince them to trust us,” Shalek warned.

Tetra had shurikens in her pocket which was infinitely big thanks to the Doctor’s bigger on the inside technology. Shalek had a hand on the handle off his sword.

“Jelo go back to your room and make sure your sister stays in her room,” Aska ordered.

Jelo had his hands by his side as he looked disappointed as he went away. He then turned around.

“How can I do that when we are in different rooms?” Jelo asked as he looked to his mother for the answer.

“If you here her move then makes sure she does not get out,” Aska told Jelo as he turned back around and went into his room.

The Doctor grabbed a piece of paper from his pocket and picked up a pen from a table. He then wrote something on it. A phone number as he scrunched it into a ball and threw it at Malin.

“What is this?” Malin asked as he picked the paper up from the floor.

“Call it,” the Doctor ordered

Malin obliged as he put the number into his phone. It ran a few times then an answer came.

“Hello?” Malin asked.

You sound unsure off yourself,” the Doctor said from the other side of the phone call.

“That is the past me that you are speaking to,” the Doctor in the room explained.

Malin shifted from one foot to another. He was nervous as he was wondering several other questions like, how can this man be in two places at one? Is he here to help me? And, what did I say to him to get him to come here?”

“I’m Malin and you are in this room,” Malin pointed to the other Doctor as if that could help somehow.

Tell me where you are. If you need help just ask nicely,” the past Doctor said.

“It is an urgent matter. Do you know where we are?” Malin asked.

He looked to the corners of the walls and then to see if there were any irregularities in the wall. There seems to be no listening devices Malin thought but he was still wary.

I can trace your phone call and will be at your location as soon as possible,” the past Doctor then ended the phone call.

Malin put the frying pan down as Aska followed this by putting the kitchen knife back into its holding.

“Do you want help with anything?” The Doctor asked.

Malin nodded his head slowly he pointed to the plaster and showed his dirty hands.

“There is a myth about this creature,” Malin started “it goes like this. A few decades ago there was an experiment to try to make Humans stronger, faster, smarter. The experiment was trying to make people more capable and the myth goes that they injected a creature that no one knows was the original species.”

Tetra threw a shuriken at the ceiling. Malin looked frightened.

“What have we said about not scaring others?” The Doctor asked.

Shalek used his sword to get the shuriken down from the ceiling. Tetra kicked some toys around as she tried to avoid the answer.

“Others have feelings. We must not interfere with them by throwing shurikens around,” Tetra muttered.

“I had an encounter with this creature,” Malin pulled the conversation back.

Aska went to the cupboards as she put the kettle on.

“Cuppa anyone?” Aska asked as there were nods from all around.

“What is a cuppa?” Tetra asked.

The Doctor sighed as he sat on the couch. Shalek and Tetra followed as Malin took the armchair seat. Aska pulled out several mugs.

“We’ve had it before. Two sugars with medium strength please,” the Doctor asked.

“Sure,” Aska replied.

“So this beast was scary,” Malin started “it was over 7 feet tall with hair brimming from it. It’s hands were large with large claws at the end of it. The scariest part of the creature has to be the eyes that glow red. It sliced my face. But spared me when I was cornered in a cave but did some sort of markings on the wall above me.”

“What markings?” The Doctor asked.

“I am not sure. I ran out of there as soon as the creature was out of sight,” Malin said.

Malin then went under the table of the living room and pulled out a small yellow booklet. It had a cartoon drawing of what the creature was reported to look like. The Doctor inspected it as he flicked through a few pages which contained some text over meetings and membership to join the Beast Tracking Society or BTS for short. There were a few fuzzy images which seemed to outline a large beast but they were all done at night so they were both fuzzy and dark.

“Does anybody take these seriously?” The Doctor asked “I can see where the fuzzy effect has been added. It is blindingly obvious that these photos were staged.”

The Doctor pointed his sonic screwdriver at the picture. It then came into focus revealing a costume that looked to be hanging off.

“It does not detract from the fact that this creature exists. This creature so rarely comes out and has hundreds of mile of forest to go in. Whenever we place camera there they seem to go offline within moments,” Malin pointed to a map “it could be anywhere in this area.”

“Over the years I have seen far more than you could ever comprehend. There probably is something out there but answer me this. Why would such a shy creature that rarely comes out just randomly attack you?” The Doctor asked.

Aska brought over several hop cups of tea as she put them on coasters on the living room table. She then went back to get the other three as she placed them on coasters as well. Malin took a sip from his cup of tea as he thought about the Doctor’s question.

“I don’t know,” Malin admitted.

The Doctor was disappointed by this. He got up and into his TARDIS.

“I will take this,” Tetra took the cup of tea.

Shalek did the same as he also grabbed the Doctor’s. The Doctor was sitting on a chair as he was thinking through the facts.

“Here you go,” Shalek gave the Doctor the cup of tea.

“Could there be something?” The Doctor asked the other two.

The TARDIS door opened as Malin entered. He looked around as he was astounded by what he saw. He then went out of the TARDIS to look at the exterior.

“Who let him in?” The Doctor muttered.

“No one. He just came in,” Shalek told the Doctor

Malin entered the TARDIS again. He was amazed by the Time Lord Technology having only seen it on a few occasions but never like this.

“Time Lord Technology. Are they back?” Malin asked.

The Doctor looked up to Malin. He was confused as to how he could have such knowledge.

“It is but it has not seemed to make any difference. A pointless return really,” the Doctor commented.

“Where are you going? I can tell you the coordinates of the cave if you want,” Malin bounced around the room.

Shalek and Tetra had grown to hate those excited faces off everyone who had ever entered a TARDIS. The amount of joy it seemed to give visitors was almost sickening to both of them having already seen it hundreds of time. They envied those who got to experience the feeling of entering a seemingly magical place. Malin ran his hand around the console area and then the bars of the TARDIS. Everything felt so warm and fresh.

“Into town. We need to meet some of those people who claim to have seen the creature. Actually let’s see the message that it left in the cave,” the Doctor got off his chair.

He pulled some levers as they dematerialised once again. The Doctor took a sip off his tea and smiled as it tasted brilliant.

“Tell Aska she makes one hell of a cuppa,” the Doctor smiled.

The Doctor then took several sips of his cup of tea, as did the others. They materialised as the Doctor ran to the door as he opened the doors. The others waited for the Doctor to do his usual environmental checks.

“What is he doing?” Malin asked.

“Checks. It has been a recent habit that he had developed. I have told him he can just check the monitor but he likes to check for himself,” Tetra explained.

The Doctor stepped out of the TARDIS as he checked the air. He picked up a leaf and smelt it. Tetra and Shalek then stepped out of the TARDIS as Malin followed.

“Good news is that we are still on the same planet,” the Doctor said.

“How about bad news? Have you found a spaghetti wig?” Shalek chuckled.

“No. That would be fantastic news as long as it had not been fused with rabbit droppings beforehand,” the Doctor picked the leaf back up “this is definitely not natural. The smell is chemical. Something advanced has polluted this forest with chemicals which often encourage anger and fear. Which means this entire area is an experiment.”

The TARDIS then dematerialised as the Doctor looked to Handles.

I can always bring it back. I have put it away for safety,” Handles explained.

“He speaks,” Tetra exclaimed.

I have spoken on 13 different occasions in your presence so my ability to speak should not be surprising,” Handles pointed out.

The Doctor brought up the Cyber-head to his face. He looked into its blue eyes. Handles blinked several times.

Visual communication. We need to have a secret language,” Handles suggested.

“Morse code will do,” the Doctor advised.

They walked through the trees as Malin attempted to remember where he had been hiding out last night until he eventually got found by the creature. Handles blinked several times as the Doctor nodded along to this.

“Creepy. I know it is. You can still speak,” the Doctor encouraged.

Handles went quiet as he surveyed the area. Attempting to find faults in the forest or to see if there was anything coming that may endanger them. A loud roar went out, filling the entire forest. The group looked around trying to find the source off it.

“How often does it do that?” The Doctor asked.

“Never. First time,” Malin muttered.

They continued to venture further into the forest without another sound coming from the other parts of the forest. It was quiet, unnervingly so.

“Over here. I know where we can find shelter,” Malin led the way.

The light was fading as the sun got low. It shone through the trees and lighted their way. Malin looked back to the group and then darted his head around making sure that he did not get caught off guard by the beast.

“Where are the true origins of this creature?” Tetra asked as she held onto a shuriken.

These days she did it more for comfort than anything else.

“Not a clue. Like I said there are rumours,” Malin replied.

“There is a building over there,” Shalek pointed out.

The Doctor looked towards Handles to see if the Cyber-head was trying to communicate. Handles was in sleep mode as he scanned the surrounding areas. The building they could see was covered in branches and had green moss growing out of the doors. It seemed to have been abandoned long ago as Malin walked up to it.

“A round door, looks secretive. I prefer square doors,” Shalek felt the round door.

“Don’t touch it. I think it is a sensitive door which could explode if not handled properly,” Malin warned.

Shalek moved away from the door as Malin moved towards it. He looked around and saw a small keypad. He tried a few combinations but he could not get in as he was rejected the two times he tried it.

“Let me have a go,” the Doctor smiled.

The Doctor lifted Handle’s head as the Cyber-head put out an array of different coloured lights as it sent signals towards the keypad. The door rolled open as they walked through it. Inside there were multiple tables with half-finished experiments on them. Test tubes were left broken on the ground as the liquids had been in them had poured out to form a gooey substance on the floor. There were charts on the wall and blueprints on the ceiling. Three beds were on the other side of the room. The rolling door closed behind them as it went completely dark.

“I’ve got it,” Malin switched the light on.

“Very impressive how you found it in the dark,” the Doctor spotted.

“Saw it just before the door rolled shut,” Malin explained.

Shalek and Tetra had already taken two of the three beds as the Doctor put his hand up over the other bed.

“You can have it Malin. I want to interview some of your villagers. But remember to be on the lookout for this mythical creature,” the Doctor put Handles on the table as he tapped on the table in short and long bursts.

Morse code detected. TARDIS teleportation system activated,” Handles spoke.

“What is the point of a secret code if we speak out what the other one is saying?” The Doctor asked.

The Doctor stood away from the others as the TARDIS appeared around the Doctor. The Doctor went to the console unit. He sent the TARDIS back to the village.

***

In the club they looked around to one another. There was one noticeable absentee from the group. An empty chair stood at the front of the room. The others were eagerly awaiting the ground breaking evidence that Malin claimed to have but he seemed to have not turned up.

After a few minutes they began chatting amongst themselves as several were looking towards the door. They a loud vworp sound silenced them. At the front of the room the TARDIS appeared.

“Is that some sort of special effect?” One of them asked

This one was called Thelma, she was one of the original members of the group. They looked to each other with several taking photographs on the TARDIS. The Doctor then looked out as several more flashes from cameras ensued. The Doctor stepped out of the TARDIS as more photographs were taken.

“Hello there. Can I speak to the leader of this group?” The Doctor asked.

The group looked from one to another wondering what to do. There was complete silence as they stared at this figure who had appeared from nowhere.

“Malin is out. He seemed to not be picking up his phone,” Thelma spoke out.

Thelma got up and went to the TARDIS, still in disbelief that it could magically appear into the room. She ran her hand along it. It sure felt wooden. Definitely not like a hologram or a special effect. The Doctor was mystified by this action as he did the same.

“Just a TARDIS. Time Lord technology. Malin had heard off it,” the Doctor said.

“Where is he?” Thelma asked.

“In the forest with a building that has a circular rolling door,” the Doctor replied.

“Why? What have you done to him?” Thelma continued.

“Nothing. I just need to ask what are your theories about the animal that currently occupies the forest?” The Doctor asked.

Eyes looked suspiciously towards him. The Doctor stepped towards the TARDIS and opened the door. He put his hand around the door and grabbed Handles. The room went back in shock as a Cyber-head had appeared.

“You better allow us to see him afterwards,” Thelma demanded.

“Of course. Just give me some information and then you will be more than welcome to see him,” the Doctor promised.

Course has been set for moving to location when required information has been given,” Handles explained.

“That Cyberman could kill us all. Get rid of it,” Thelma shouted in anger.

“There is not much of the man left. It’s just a harmless head that I managed to get,” the Doctor said.

The Doctor put the Cyber-head on a table as he sat on a chair and looked around the group.

“Malin had theories off his own. Apparently it is a native creature with its descendants having lived here for thousands of years. Probably a descendent of the bear and another unknown creature but without photographic proof this has never been proven,” Thelma pushed the TARDIS door.

It opened as Thelma went into the TARDIS. The others got up as the Doctor pulled Handles towards his face. He then went forward with Handles as the other members of the group went away from the Cyber-head.

“You need to get out of my TARDIS,” the Doctor ordered.

Thelma was looking around the TARDIS in astonishment. She touched some of the controls. The monitor showed the group hesitating as they went towards the door.

“It’s real. Time Lord technology,” Thelma hit the console.

“Why are you doing that?” The Doctor asked.

“I thought that would open the door,” Thelma seemed disappointed.

The Doctor went towards the console as he put Handles on a chair. Thelma walks towards Handles and pats him on the head.

“Quite a cute little thing,” Thelma commented.

The Doctor pulled several of the levers and pushed the buttons on the TARDIS console dematerialized. It materialized to the base where they were before. Except there was on distinct difference. The Doctor went out of the TARDIS doors, it was no longer night time, but now it was the morning. Blood was splattered around the room.

***

Tetra laid down as Shalek was already fast asleep, snoring as usual. Malin was not within sight. Tetra looked around the room trying to find Malin but he seemed to be gone. She got up as she surveyed the area. Malin was not in the place he was supposed to be. A rustling of papers could be heard from another room. Tetra ran into it as Malin was sitting down with a lighter in one hand as he held a document up to his face. There was ash around Malin’s feet showing that he had burnt several papers earlier on.

“Why are you up?” Malin asked, trying to look innocent.

Tetra had one of her hands on a shuriken. She had another hand on the fusion blaster. Although she still had not a clue why she still had it.

“I couldn’t see you. What are you doing?” Tetra rubbed her eyes.

Malin looked around the room trying to find an excuse. He sighed as he couldn’t find a believable excuse. He passed the paper over to Tetra.

“That is showing one of my friends who was involved in the experiment. He asked me to retrieve these files so that he will not go to prison,” Malin said.

Tetra read through the file which showed the creature and a few names which she did know. She handed it back to Malin.

“What is the creature?” Tetra asked.

“Doesn’t matter. The creature could be here at any time. We have to keep on high alert. Do you really want to get killed?” Malin asked.

“Guys? You do realise I’m alone, in the dark,” Shalek shouted.

“Scared of the dark Shalek?” Tetra chuckled.

“Ever since I entered the Doctor’s records I have been. He’s had double shadow death creatures,” Shalek explained.

Tetra went back into the room as she sat in her bed but did not lie down. Too nervous to lie down. The night sky was wearing away as the sun was coming up. The picture on the monitor that looked outside was outstanding. It showed every detail of the forest that lay outside. However, every good sight has a flaw and this one was the red eyes that peered through the bushes that were just a few meters outside of the base.

“Red eyes outside,” Tetra shouted.

Malin ran back into the room as quickly as he could. He took a look at the monitor as it showed the creature slowly approaching.

“Can we trap the creature in that cage?” Shalek asked.

“No. It will be far too quick and I would have nothing to lock it down with,” Malin dismissed the idea.

“Surely it can’t get in. This is a huge base,” Shalek pointed out.

“Well it is. But other areas are not meant to be accessed,” Malin wondered around.

The group walked away from the main door. The monitor switched itself off. Something started hitting the door. It moved slightly. Malin moved them to another room. This room was slightly green with dripping experiments and taps. It was covered in plastic sheets. These plastic sheets were also covered in liquid. Pipes drooped from the ceiling. They had a green liquid slowly dripping from it into a hole in the floor. Each time it dripped the floor came out a bit more as the green liquid was acidic. The floor below could be seen. It was a cellar which had been disused for a number of years.

At the front of the base the door had collapsed. The creature had gotten inside. It looked around. Sniffing the air. A scent was traced as it followed the group.

“Where is it?” Tetra urged.

A table flew in from the next room and hit a wall. Tetra grabbed one of her shurikens as she aimed it at the door from where the table had flown in from.

“Don’t kill it,” Malin urged.

Malin then tried to wrestle the shuriken out of Tetra’s hand. It cut his hand. Tetra kicked Malin backwards as he collapsed to the ground. Shalek pulled his sword out and faced it towards the door. A claw came through. The lights then switched off as footsteps made their way towards them.

“Did the lights have to go off now?” Tetra asked.

Shalek was walking back as he kept his sword pointed in front of him. Malin could be heard running around the creature. Tetra threw a shuriken at the point she thought she could hear the footsteps. Red eyes shone through the darkness as Shalek charged with his sword. He hit the creature as the sword plunged into it.

The lights turned on as Malin was holding a gun at them. Shalek and Tetra looked to one another. The creature was squirming on the ground. It grabbed Shalek and pulled him down. Its claws sunk into Shalek. Tetra threw a shuriken at the creature’s head. But before it could reach her it disappeared in mid-air. The creature’s eyes lost their redness and turned to black.

“What was that?” Tetra asked.

Shalek kicked the creature away as he got up and went away from it. Malin was looking at the creature as he ran towards it.

“Be fine. Come on,” Malin begged.

“Is he talking to the creature? Some people are weird,” Shalek said as he raised his sword up.

Malin ran away before Shalek could swing the sword down on him. Shalek then plunged the sword into the creature’s stomach. It winced and then relaxed as it’s body became motionless.

“We have to find Malin,” Tetra ran to the door “we need to know what he is up to.”

***

The creatures body laid on the ground as Malin was next to it. Blood streaked from where Malin had pulled the creature. Shalek and Tetra saw the TARDIS as they ran back into the hut from the outside. They seemed tired from a night of searching for Malin.

“On a cave something was written,” Shalek said.

The Doctor put Handles on the ground as the Cyber-head was scanning the surrounding area.

“Doctor, go away. Please. This creature was more than just a killing beast,” Malin put a hand in the creature’s stomach and pulled out a heart “it used to beat before your sword wielding friend took the life out of it.”

“What did it say on the cave?” The Doctor asked.

My pain is your fault,” Shalek recounted the message on the wall.

Malin was speechless as he put the heart back into the stomach. He had several pieces of equipment.

“Thelma. What did you say Malin’s theory about the creature was?” The Doctor asked.

“Malin said that it is a native to this place. It is a mysterious being that has evolved over time,” Thelma went to the creature.

It was cold as it lay on the ground. Dead as can be. Its eyes were shut and the chest had been ripped open with wires going inside it.

“And Malin told us that is came from a lab. This is the lab that it came from. And Malin had something to do with it,” the Doctor sat on one of the beds.

“I saw him burning papers. He said he was trying to save a friend,” Tetra ran into the room of papers.

Tetra carried a stack of them as the Doctor flicked through them. He read as much as he could in such a short space of time. Malin waited nervously for the Doctor to finish reading the paper. A hand was by his side itching at the gun.

“Malin was one of the three scientists that worked in this place. He tried to throw us off by getting the password wrong but he has been experimenting this whole time. Creating a highly intelligent creature with some powers that is advanced as this planet gets,” the Doctor picked Handles up.

“Well done Doctor. You figured it out. I knew who you were. Who doesn’t in the universe? The famous Doctor. The man with the blue box, which can travel through time and space. And whatever companion he may have at the time. They come and go so regularly it really doesn’t matter. But Tetra has a device that my machine picked up. Hand it to me,” Malin put a hand out.

Tetra hesitated. She looked to the Doctor as he nodded. Tetra handed over the device as she gave it to Malin. He grabbed it as he fiddled around with it.

“What does it do?” Malin asked.

“Not much. Quite boring really,” Tetra yawned.

Malin pointed the device at the creature. He looked to the Doctor and then pressed the button.

“Malin. Why did you do it?” The Doctor asked.

The device has been pointed at Thelma and the creature. What came out was a merge of the two as Helen could feel the horrified fur that the creature had. Thelma saw claws growing out of her hands. A scream came out which was then replaced by a roar.

“I thought that is what it would do,” Malin smiled.

Thelma rose up from the ground with half her face being human and the other half being of the creature.

“Product X has risen. This time merging with a Human for increased intelligence,” Malin chuckled.

“That is horrible,” Shalek stuttered as he went a few steps forward.

“Stand back,” Malin ordered as he pointed his gun at Shalek.

“Do as he says. We cannot allow you to die,” the Doctor said.

The Doctor put Handles in front of him as the Cyber-head scanned the gun. It responded with a series of flashes.

“You can talk,” the Doctor said.

The gun is a pistol. One bullet is inside it. Highly dangerous if shots,” Handles told the others.

“One?” Thelma asked.

Thelma used her claws as she scratched Malin as he went backwards. She grabbed the gun and pulled it towards her own head.

“I cannot live like this,” Thelma pulled the trigger as he body slammed into the ground.

“Doctor. Save her,” Tetra demanded as the Doctor ran towards Thelma.

Her half-creature body was motionless but still warm from it being recently alive. Malin looked to her as he could see what he had done.

“I’m the monster. I created the creature to help the city fight crime. I have a family to protect but now I have let them down. Thelma killed herself because of my selfish ways,” Malin whined.

Got the gun and put it to his head. He pulled the trigger but nothing came out. He checked the casing which revealed that there was nothing left.

“You deserve to be dead,” Tetra spat.

“I know. My wife and kids will hate me if they find out the truth,” Mali paced across the room.

“Do not expect us to help you. Innocent animals and innocent people have died,” Shalek went back into the TARDIS.

Tetra followed Shalek into the TARDIS as the Doctor pondered about what he should do.

“Give me the device,” the Doctor put his hand out.

Malin hesitated as he fiddled with the weapon that he had gotten from Tetra. The Doctor grabbed the gun before Malin could decide.

“What will happen to me?” Malin asked.

“This entire thing has been recorded by your own security cameras which will be given to the local authorities and they can decide the right action,” the Doctor went into his TARDIS.

“So another villain apprehended,” Tetra grinned.

Handles was put back onto the TARDIS console. The Doctor connected Handles back to the TARDIS console. The TARDIS dematerialised as the security footage was sent to the local authorities. The TARDIS crew set off for their next adventure.

***

Malin sat in the chamber. He could hear the local authorities as they surrounded the area he was at. He threw his gun down and was taken by several cops. They scoured the place. Malin brought out a device as he then zapped two of the cops. They went backwards.

“Stop him,” one cop ordered as several cops surrounded Malin.

Malin looked for an escape route. He was too far away from the cars and his device could only work one a few individuals at once. Malin dropped the weapon. Several cops pushed him to the ground and arrested him.

Malin was sent to life imprisonment.
