"How long till we get to your flat?" Graham asked Judy once they were on the road.
  +
  +
"Maybe fifteen, twenty minutes?" Judy estimated. Graham nodded.
  +
  +
"This is probably not a good time, but what were you doing back there, standing on that railing?" Ryan asked Judy.
  +
  +
Judy gripped the steering wheel.
  +
  +
"That is a good question. Why were you staring at the water, when it's dark outside?" Yaz pushed.
  +
  +
"I don't want to talk about it," Judy muttered under her breath.
  +
  +
"Please, tell me why. I want to help," the Doctor said, with compassion in her voice.
  +
  +
"Stop pushing!" Judy yelled in anger. "I don't know you well enough to answer questions like that! I have trust issues, okay? So shut up, all of you!" She kicked the side of the car door to illustrate her point.
  +
  +
"Red light, sweetheart," Graham said calmly, but firmly.
  +
  +
Judy slammed the brakes of the car, and turned to face the others. "I can kick you out of this car at any moment! ''ANY MOMENT!'' So shut up about what I was doing on that motorway, or else!"
  +
  +
"Green light, sweetheart," Graham said kindly.
  +
  +
"Quit telling me how to drive, Graham!" Judy yelled.
  +
  +
There was silence for the rest of the car ride.
  +
  +
Soon they pulled up to an old complex of flats. They got out of the car. "Now," Judy said, "if we're lucky, my mum won't be home."
  +
  +
"Now what is ''that ''supposed to mean?" Yaz asked skeptically.
  +
  +
"My mum will ruin everything. Trust me," Judy assured.
  +
  +
They walked up a couple of flights of stairs, and arrived at a door, which Judy unlocked and opened. They walked in, and Judy turned the light on. It was kind of old, with no decorations, except a few family photos on the wall. In the light, the Doctor could see what Judy looked like a little better.
  +
  +
Judy was almost average height for her age, a little on the short side. She had short, dark curly hair that needed to be brushed. She wore a ratty, blue t-shirt with a black leather jacket, and dark, ripped-up jeans. Unlike most her age, Judy didn't wear make-up, but the Doctor didn't think that she needed it. Judy had a well-shaped face, but when the Doctor looked into her eyes, she had to look away because they were so full of sadness and anger. The Doctor instantly made a promise that someday, she would find out why this girl was so hurt.
  +
  +
Judy invited them to sit down, and ran to find her computer. After Judy left, the Doctor turned to her fam. "What do you think of her?"
  +
  +
"I think she's really sad about something, but won't tell anyone what it is," Graham speculated.
  +
  +
"I want to know what she was doing on that motorway," Yaz said.
  +
  +
"I think she's kinda pretty," Ryan added. Everyone looked at him.
  +
  +
Yaz giggled.
  +
  +
"What?" Ryan demanded. The Doctor gave him a warm smile. Judy re-entered the room, and all conversation stopped.
  +
  +
She handed the computer to the Doctor, and said, "I've got a story up on when my dad robbed the bank."
  +
  +
The Doctor played the video that was on the site. A female news reporter was speaking. "Today, another robbery happened at the London bank. It is the fifth robbery that has occurred in a matter of three weeks. This time, an IT consultant named Jackson Davis committed the robbery, at midnight, on Saturday. Here is footage of Davis being detained."
  +
  +
It cut to a video of a man being roughed by the police, who were trying to put him in a car. The man was, apparently, Judy's dad. Just as they were about to put him in the car, the Doctor paused the video and pointed at Davis's neck. "Hey Judy," she asked, "does your dad have a tattoo?"

  +
Judy came over and looked. It was hard to tell what is was, but on her dad's neck, there seemed to be a round symbol of some sort. Judy shook her head. "I've never seen that on him. He must've gotten it before the robbery."
"Not now, Yaz," the Doctor interrupted harshly. Yaz looked at the ground and nodded.

Also, I'll be uploading this chapter-by-chapter, so if you're reading this, and it's not finished, please be patient. I'll have the rest of it up soon!

And if it cuts of in the middle of a chapter, sorry! I'm doing my best to finish it quickly!

Prologue

Have you ever felt like you were in a hole, and couldn't get out? Have you felt like you were so alone, and so sad, and you felt like you were never going to be happy again? And then, suddenly, the most amazing person you've ever met comes into your life (quite by accident), and saves you from yourself? For some people that person is a family member, a really good friend, or a lover.

For me it was the Doctor.

And now I'm never going to see her again.

Chapter 1

Seventeen-year-old Judy Davis looked out over the highway, observing the water below. She had no idea how to swim. But at this point in her life, she was grateful for that fact. If she had done what she was about to do, some people would be devastated at this fact, and the world may not have even existed.

Judy slowly climbed onto the railing. Her heart started to beat fast. Suddenly, she heard an odd sound. It was like a loud whirring. Judy quickly turned her head. In the middle of the road, something appeared out of nowhere. Judy raised her eyebrows. It was an old, 1960s police box.

Someone walked out of the police box. It was a woman, with blonde hair, and she wore the most absurd, longest coat that Judy had ever seen. "Oi, why did the Tardis take us here?" the woman asked out loud in a strong Yorkshire accent.

Behind her, three more people walked out of the box. There was another woman, younger, with dark brown eyes and hair, tan skin, and a brown leather jacket. There was an older man with gray hair and simple clothes. Finally, out walked a young man with dark skin, a black jacket, and when Judy looked into his eyes she just...melted.

All of a sudden, Judy realized what she was doing. She tried to get down, but the woman with the long coat noticed her and shouted, "Hey! You there! What are you doing?"

Judy scrambled off the rail. "Um...nothing. Who are you?"

The woman quickly introduced herself and the others. "I'm the Doctor, and this is Ryan, Yaz, and Graham. What's your name?"

Judy struggled to answer. "Uh...Judith Davis. My friends call me Judy. But how'd you get here? How did that police box...just...appear?"

The Doctor spoke in a cheery voice, like she expected Judy to understand what she was telling her. "That's my Tardis. It travels through time and space. It brought us here because someone needed help, I guess. You don't mind me asking, where are we exactly, and what year is it?"

"You're crazy weird. But we're in West London, 2020."

Nods of approval resounded among the group.

"Nice place," Yaz said.

"Glad we're in modern times," Graham remarked.

Judy looked at the young man, Ryan. He didn't say anything, just looked at Judy and nodded. Judy slowly smiled for the first time since they met her. Ryan did nothing back.

Oh no, Yaz thought, She thinks Ryan's cute.

"So," the Doctor said, "seen anything suspicious lately? My ship said there was someone in trouble. Are you okay?"

Judy nodded. "Yeah. I'm fine. Mostly."

"What do you mean, 'mostly'? Tell us if there's something wrong!" Yaz exclaimed.

"I literally just met you guys less than five minutes ago! I don't know you!" Judy cried out.

"Please, you have to trust us. Whatever is going on, we're here to help. I'm here to help. We won't let you down, I promise," the Doctor pleaded.

Judy looked into the Doctor's eyes, and instantly knew she could trust her. "Um...this might be nothing, but...some weird crimes have been going on lately. The robbers, they rob a bank, they get caught, taken to jail, whatever. But, as soon as they get to jail, they forget that they ever robbed anything. They beg for innocence, and they had no idea that they ever did anything bad."

"That's weird. And it's just in West London?" the Doctor asked.

Judy nodded. Then she sighed and said, "Thing is, one of those robbers happened to be my dad."

Yaz's eyes widened. Graham shook his head. The Doctor's face was full of compassion as she said, "I'm so sorry. I'll figure this out."

"What's your dad like? Is he a good dad?" Ryan asked suddenly.

He speaks, Judy thought. She stuttered and said, "He's an amazing dad. Most of the time. He's the only one I really trust in my family. He never would have robbed a bank. But now he's stuck in jail with no memory of it."

"I need more info on the robberies. Do you have a computer?" the Doctor asked Judy.

"Yeah, back at my flat," Judy answered.

"Let's go then!" the Doctor exclaimed excitedly.

"Got a car?" Yaz asked.

Judy pointed to a small car next to them and said, "My sister's car. She's out with her boyfriend tonight, no telling when she'll be back. She won't even miss it."

Yaz narrowed her eyes. "How old are you?"

"Seventeen," Judy answered shyly.

"You're too young to drive!" Yaz exclaimed.

"I have my junior's license!" Judy retorted.

"I'm a police officer, you know. I could..." Yaz started. But the Doctor interrupted her with a harsh, "Not now, Yaz."

Yaz looked at the ground and nodded.

They all got in the car, the Doctor riding shotgun with Judy.
